Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow: A Novel
Gabrielle Zevin
8/10 - A great book with amazing character development. I went into this book expecting it to be more focused on games, and it does focus on that - but reading the success, failure, grief, and more that the main characters go through was enthralling.
Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage
Alfred Lansing
10/10 - This book is captivating. The harrowing events that take place, the struggle to survive, the incredible real-life character of Shackleton.....this is a must read.
Annihilation
Jeff VanderMeer
7/10 - Being a Tallahassee native I had to check out Jeff VanderMeer. A captivating book that leads to many more questions. Looking forward to the next two in the Area X triology.
The Player of Games
Iain M. Banks
7/10 - This was a fun read. The ending was a bit easy to figure out, in my opinion, but the world building and idea of the Culture is fun and exciting.
Caliban's War
James S. A. Corey
In progress.
Leviathan Wakes
James S. A. Corey
8/10 - Space. Murder. Mystery. Alien tech. Well-developed characters. This book was a great read and hard to put down.
Yearbook
Seth Rogen
7/10 - Hilarious. A collection of true short stories from Seth Rogen's life. If you need a laugh, you are sure to get one from one of the pages in this book.
Infinite 2
Jeremy Robinson
7/10 - Picking up where the first book left off, the protagonist is still adrift in space. This was a fun read that reminded me of "Ready Player One", with a lot of pop-culture references. Definitely darker than the first one.
World War Z
Max Brooks
8/10 - Finally got around to reading this and it was a lot of fun. I enjoyed the documentary/interview style of the book and how you got a view at what was happening from a lot of varying perspectives.
The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life
Mark Manson
6/10 - A fun read and one that many people can relate to. I found that this book did a good job at making you think about what you truly care about, and how you need to focus on that to be successful overall. However, nothing seemed mind-blowing in this book.
A Full Life
Former President Jimmy Carter
6/10 - An interesting read on the life of Jimmy Carter. I found it interesting to learn about his upbringing, military service, and time as a U.S. President.
The Midnight Library
Matt Haig
In progress - still. Can't seem to get into this one, honestly.
Project Hail Mary
Andy Weir
7/10 - If you are a fan of science fiction doomsday scenarios and a witty protagonist, then you will enjoy this read. Just try not to compare to The Martian.
Morning Star
Pierce Brown
7/10 - The third book of the Red Rising series.Â
Golden Son
Pierce Brown
8/10 - The second book of the Red Rising series.
Red Rising
Pierce Brown
8/10 - The first book of the Red Rising series. Ender's Game X Hunger Games, but written for adults. Slow start, but once it gets going you won't want to put it down.
The Martian
Andy Weir
8/10 - If you have seen the movie, but never read the book, I recommend taking a read. The story is much funnier than it should be for a man alone on a desolate planet.
Who Moved My Cheese
Spencer Johnson M.D.
7/10 - A good book on how to view things from another perspective and change with the times.
Born a Crime
Trevor Noah
9/10 - Funny, engaging, and oddly educational on the topic of apartheid in South Africa.
Infinite
Jeremy Robinson
7/10 - An interesting read that starts off fast paced and grabs the reader's attention. This book will have you guessing and wondering what exactly is reality.Â
The Daily Show (The Book): An Oral History
Chris Smith
8/10 - An interesting book about how The Daily Show started as a satirical look at news, but ended up being in the conversation with the likes of Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, and others.
The Five Temptations of a CEO
Patrick Lencioni
7/10 - One of Lencioni's many books that allows you to take a step back and see what temptation you yourself fall into regarding management.
Nut Jobs: Cracking California's Strangest $10 Million Dollar Heist
Marc Fennell
7/10 - This is an interesting ride that takes turn, after turn. If you want a quick heist story, this is worth the listen.
